Weekend in Goshen, IN

The Acappella Gospel Sing in Goshen, IN, last weekend was quite a success. Those of us from Ohio traveled out early to get together with the members from Missouri so we could get in some practice time before the event. The Fairview Church where the event was held was full to overflowing the first night. Some folks had to stand along the walls, watch through the back windows of the auditorium, or watch a screen to be able to listen to the singing. It was enjoyable to listen to each group with their unique styles. One of our favorite groups was the Garment of Praise. They have a real heart for what they do, and they put much effort into their songs. Every group put quite a bit of effort into the whole weekend, making it one to remember. Plans are to make another event similar to this one next year.

Life Goes On

Thanksgiving is always a busy time at the Hostetler house, so haven't been many dull moments in the past few weeks. Sadly, song practice seems to somehow get pushed to the back during times like these. The wedding in Greenville, Tennessee, that we are scheduled to sing at, is coming up in a few weeks; so preparation for that will be speeding up dramatically in the very near future. Practice yesterday went quite well, considering how little we've done so in the last month.

This will be the second wedding we've done since the second group, which we call "Harmony 5 Generation 2," has come into play. This new and current group is made up of one original Harmony 5 member, Duane Hostetler, plus three of his children; Preston, Kyla, and Ryan.

New Events Post

Several events will be happening in the next few weeks, months, etc...we will be singing at an annual Prayer Partner's Tea in McConnelsville, OH, on Thursday evening. A couple songs on the list are "You Are Mine" and "Go Light Your World." The fifth Sunday of this month, we are scheduled to sing at the Malta Bible Church in Malta, OH, around 6 p.m. In December, on the 19th, we have been asked to sing at the Schmidt/Morinigo wedding in Greenville, TN.

We're Moving Along

Things are moving along -- we are in the process of getting our computer system updated so that we have space for everything recording-related that we'll be loading it down with. After that come the microphones and things connected with that. Singing practice is going well; last night we sang "Lay Up Your Treasures In Heaven," a very energetic song we're possibly looking into adding to the new album. Keep watching the website for photos of our newest members of the group!

First Post!

Well, here we are with our first blog post! It's exciting to be able to tell people when they ask that, yes, we do finally have a website. It is obviously still a work in progress, but the main idea is there. :) And if anyone has ideas on how to make the website better, please share! Improvements are continually being made, such as the audio samples we put on just today -- we will likely alternate the sample songs, as well as sheet music samples, now and then; so keep your eyes open for that. We are looking at possibly making another album in the coming year or two, Lord willing, which lots of people have already been asking about. Since we do our own recording, we must first upgrade our equipment, so we're working on that part of the plan at the present.
